Marshawn Lynch: Will he stay or will he go?
I just got back from Jeff Tedford’s last press conference before the Bears leave for the Holiday Bowl, and — surprise, surprise — he was asked about tailback Marshawn Lynch’s status for next year.
You may recall that after Big Game, Tedford said he planned to sit down with Lynch and discuss options with his junior tailback, who is considering a jump to the NFL.
In two-plus weeks, the only news is that Tedford and Lynch….
…agreed to discuss the situation at length after the Holiday Bowl.
“All we’ve talked about is that when all is said and done, we’ll talk about what’s on his mind,” Tedford said.
So they talked about talking. … Glad we got that settled.
Asked which way Lynch is leaning — he’s expected to leave school — Tedford said: “I have no idea what he’s thinking. Obviously, he’s been a huge part of what we’ve done.”
In other Cal football news:
Fullback Byron Storer will not play in the Holiday Bowl because of a broken arm suffered Saturday in practice.
Actually, that’s not totally true: Storer did break his arm, and you wouldn’t think that 10 days would be enough time to recover, but Tedford didn’t absolutely rule Storer out given his toughness and his desire to play in his final college game.
“We might have to tie him down,” Tedford said.

He should go, as you never know what can happen injury wise in a season, but he’s probably doing what Matt Leinart did and is waiting to see what other Junior players decide. When is the announcement deadline?
Unfortunately, the guy who really needs an answer is Justin Forsett — If Lynch does the unlikely and stays, I hope Cal can get formations (wishbone?
heh. heh.) that put them both on the field.
Who is this Marshawn Lynch of which you speak?
